The Dallas Zoo is located just 3 miles from the downtown area. It is the largest zoo in Texas, offering guests the chance to explore more than 1,800 animals on 106 acres of land. The zoo is divided into three sections: Zoo North; Giants of Savannah; and Wilds of Africa, each offering animals pertaining to their respective names. The zoo also has fantastic children's activities such as a petting zoo, play area, and pony rides. In addition the zoo features learning exhibits with presentations to educate the population about the zoo animals.

As you walk into the magnificent zoo you will be greeted to a giant 67 and a half feet tall giraffe sculpture! This is just the beginning of all the terrific things awaiting you inside the zoo.

Inside of Zoo North you will find animals such as endangered tigers, Asian otters, monkeys, cheetahs, birds, and more. There is also a wonderful Bird & Reptile Building, filled with rare and exotic reptiles, birds, and amphibians. Take a visit to the Australian Outback, where you will be fascinated by animals from down-under such as kangaroos and wallabies. The children's area is also located in this section of the zoo, and is a favorite for all of the little ones.

The Wilds of Africa takes you on a magical journey of animals found in Africa. Las Vegas' famous Flamingo Hotel show animals now call the Dallas Zoo home, and can be found in this section of the zoo. You'll also be pleased with the walk-through exotic bird exhibit.

The Giants of Savannah exhibit is the newest at the zoo, featuring safari animals including elephants, lions, cheetahs, and other African animals. There is a separate predators animals where the zoos 5 new lions and 3 cheetahs can be found.

Children's birthday parties and other special events can be made even more spectacular when held at the zoo. You can choose which setting you would like your event to take place in.

Admission to the zoo is only $12 for adults, $9 for children and seniors, and free for those aged 2 and under. Parking costs $7 per car load. plan your trip on a special zoo day and receive discounted admission! Memberships are also available. The zoo is open from 9 am til 5 pm and you will need most of that time to see and explore the many animals and exhibits inside the zoo.
