Google Earth is a navigation tool published by Google Inc. which allows users to explore the earth from the comfort of their own home. Users can zoom in from outer space to view the streets of their hometown, explore more exotic locales, and even plan trips for vacations - hotels and restaurants included! With the release of Google Earth 5.0, google has advanced the state of the industry again, with a plethora of useful and fun new features: historic map imagery, google ocean view, and even the ability to take others for tours around our planet.
Historic Map Imagery
What better way to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the earth than by observing its progressive change over time? With historic imagery, the capacity to do so is in your hands. This opens up a world of astonishing possibilities! For instance, one can witness the disappearance of the earth's ice caps, the effects of erosion, and the growing of city areas. This feature is indispensable to ecologists and anyone with an active interest in the future of our planet.
Google Ocean View
The greater part of the earth is covered by oceans. For centuries, these areas have been hidden from view, and have remained unmapped. With Google Earth 5.0, the darkness that shrouded these areas in the past is dispelled. What better way to spend an afternoon than to explore the depths of the ocean at mind-boggling speed? This feature allows one to gain insight into the geography of the ocean. As well, some shipwrecks are even available in 3D - much like the 3D buildings on land!
Share World Tours
Have you recently discovered a breathtaking scenic route and wish to share it with the world? With Google Earth 5.0, recording a tour is easier than ever! Simply press the record tour button, and explore! Share your tours with your friends and take them on a world tour that they'll never forget!
Google Earth 5.0 - Summary
