Upon entering the Cheesecake Factory, it is sometimes difficult to tell if you are in a family restaurant, a gourmet bakery, or a reading room! The ambiance is similar to that of many other chain places, lots of servers working their way through tables, groups and couples talking over each other and munching on appetizers, but it is so much more than that. The selection of cheesecakes truly is baffling, and the smell of the place itself is worth shelling out a few bucks. The reading room quip was in reference to their menu, which is almost impossible to read in one sitting. In addition to the standard burgers, steaks, and salads, they also offer many original items, with influences coming from Mexican, Japanese, European, and good-old American soul food traditions, and their beverage selection will have you lightheaded before you even take a sip! Their desserts are not limited to cheesecake alone. You have your choice of many mountainous confections guaranteed to give you your sugar fix. The fresh fish tacos and the shrimp-and-bacon-club sandwich are my two favorite entrees, while the Dark and Stormy cocktail couldn't be beat!. The prices are slightly above what you'd expect, but the portions and quality of the food is well worth it. Though it was a very busy afternoon at the location I ate in Aventura, FL, the wait staff was very pleasant and efficient in their crisp white uniforms.
All in all, the Cheesecake Factory is much like cheesecake itself, an indulgence. But a worthy one.
