Earning rating stars on Helium is a vital part of using the website and becoming a respected member of the Helium community. Rating stars are probably not quite as important as writing stars but they can still play a part in how you are seen by other members on the site and most importantly how much you earn.

To qualify for earnings on Helium you must obtain at least one rating star. To do this you must have rated at least 10 articles in the past 30 days and have a rating score of at least 75%. We will look at how the percentage works later. If you want to try and obtain the maximum 5 stars you will have to have rated 500 articles in the last 90 days and have a rating score of 75% or alternatively if you have a higher rating score you may only need to rate 300 articles in 90 days, you need to be up at 85% to achieve this. If you to qualify for 5 rating stars you will receive a $3.00 bonus at the start of each month.

Your percentage score if obviously very important when it comes to earning stars. If you just speed rate articles you will find you have a very low score. You must take the time to read the two articles and come to an accurate judgement. You should be taking at least 3 minutes to rate most articles, some articles may take even longer. Make sure you scroll down and read all the article and then give a fair assessment. If your rating is similar to that of other members your percentage score will increase.

When rating articles there are things you should look out for. Poor spelling, grammar and formatting will mean that the article is less likely to be rated well. If you read two similar articles but one is well presented and has accurate grammar, whereas the other one has mistakes and is difficult to read, then the first article should be the better one. Also look out for originality, accuracy of facts, how easy an article is to read and basically how much you enjoy the article. If you are unsure about how to rate two articles it may be best just to use the skip button and move on to the next two.

Do not automatically assume that the longest article will be the best. Often long articles repeat the subject and can become boring and very difficult to follow. Articles of around 600 words are usually thought to be best as these can be presented in a concise easy to understand manner.

Helium recommends that you rate an average of 10 articles a day if you are looking to obtain 5 stars. Rating more than 10 may lead to poor judgement and Helium do not look
