Happiness is an unexpected wave of joy,
In a sea where doldrums rule the day.
A crashing breaker on the shore,
That carries you away.
Happiness is a quiet pool of calm,
Never ending, always still and true.
A silent, ever present thing,
That happens to a privileged few.
It can be a fleeting thing,
A moment briefly there.
Or nurtured, and preserved through time,
With patience, love, and care.
