How worshiping God can be a ticket to heaven

by Linda Kay

Created on: June 20, 2010

Throughout Scripture I have found only one way to gain a ticket to heaven by worshiping God, and I am excited about it! I am excited because God is a sinless, perfect God. As for myself, well, I am a sinful human being in need of a ticket to heaven.

In my quest I began to research. I found the word worship had several meanings. It meant “Honor, religious service, adoration; reverence. To adore, to pay divine honors to; to idolize.” My mind seemed to hone in on the word “honor”.

How could I, a mere mortal, honor the God of the universe, let alone worship my way into a ticket to heaven? After some thought and deliberation I turned to God’s Holy Word, the Bible. I settled on the book of Romans; this is what I found.

In Romans three, verses ten and twenty three I learned that none of us are righteous and we have all sinned. In chapter five verse twelve I found that death was the price for sin. Reading along I also found “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” I found this in chapter six, verse twenty three.

That gave me pause, and I had to back up to something I had previously read in chapter 5. Verse eight showed me that God already knew we humans would sin. Yet He loved us and gave His life for us in spite of it.

Continuing along I found these words in verses nine through thirteen of chapter ten:
9.)”That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10.) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11.) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12.) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13.) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Later, a friend showed me I John 5:13, it reads as follows:

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

There, right in front of me in black and white, was my ticket. My perfect ticket to heaven was through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. With the passing of time, and growing in God’s grace, I began to learn more about worshiping Him. Not only do I pray, sing praises to Him, and tell others about what I learned, I also apply His truths to my daily life so others can see Christ living in me.

I drew the conclusion that once I had asked Him to forgive my sins and be my Lord and Savior the door to worship stood wide open to all who believe on Christ.
