TRAVELERS:
I traveled through a dusty town, on my way to find tomorrow
I found a lonely tavern, so I thought I’d drown my sorrow
I asked the barkeep for a drink, He smiled at me, and gave a wink
He said, “I’ve beer and whiskey too, but it won’t cure what ails you”
I shrugged my shoulders, gave a grunt; something unintelligent
I drank the rot-gut that he gave me, but knew full well, it wouldn’t save me
I saw a pretty woman there; Dancing slowly to a sad, sad song
I asked the barkeep “What’s her story?” He said, “Another tale of love gone wrong”
CHORUS:
For we are all just travelers on this celestial ball
Looking for a reason, for some meaning in it all
We are all just travelers, every one of us alone
Searching for an answer, for someplace to call our own
We are all just travelers, across this great divide
All of us sojourners, looking for a place to hide
But every now and then, we find someone to walk beside
For a friend to share the journey, for a place we can confide
We are all just travelers in this life
We are all just travelers in this life
I asked her if she’d like to dance, she said “I’m not into romance’
But I’ll share my bed with you tonight. Distraction can be good sometimes”
She grabbed her purse, I paid the bill; I introduced myself as “Will”
She said my name is Juliet, but by tomorrow, you’ll forget
We found a motel near the bar, where we could share the night
We lay there in each other’s arms, until the morning light
I fell asleep and when I woke, she was gone without a trace
I could smell her perfume in the room, but not recall her face
CHORUS:
And we are all just travelers on this celestial ball
Looking for a reason, for some meaning in it all
We are all just travelers, every one of us alone
Searching for an answer, for someplace to call our own
We are all just travelers, across this great divide
All of us sojourners, looking for a place to hide
But every now and then, we find someone to walk beside
For a friend to share the journey, for a place we can confide
We are all just travelers in this life
We are all just travelers in this life
BRIDGE:
I went into a coffee shop, to order a cup of regret
The waitress said to wait my turn, but she will soon forget
Cause I am just a traveler, someone she’ll soon forget
I am just another traveler, someone she’ll soon forget…
