How to control procrastination

Procrastination is something which is inevitable especially when the mood arises. It is easy to succumb to it and be totally submerged. However, procrastination has to be controlled, if not it will prevent one from ever completing tasks and duties.

There are a few ways to achieve this. The following are some ways:-

Set a Time and Stick To It

If there is a need to procrastinate, set a time and stick to a schedule. By setting some time aside to rejuvenate and collect thoughts, set a time limit from a few days right up to a week. Never go over the stipulated time to procrastinate and promising yourself that you will have more procrastinations in different time limits to come.

Do a Counting Down

Keep a mini diary and do a counting down on tasks, assignments and work duties which need to be done and completed. The more focused one is and sticking to a reality check rule and getting back on track, all the more better.  Normally, by keeping tabs on things that need to be completed and all that, one will become more focused and hence, won't spend lots of time procrastinating.

Keep a Mindset

Tell yourself that by having short periods of procrastination and then getting back quickly on track is like a mindset.  Start to become responsible and stick to your scheduled plan.  Use those procrastination moments to gain short periods of happiness, relaxation and etc.

Gain Ideas

Use procrastination moments to gain new ideas and inspirations for your work.  It doesn't mean that work and other tasks have to be thought through over and over even while procrastinating.  However, by using this method, there is a perfect excuse to be stagnant for a few moments and hoping to get back fresh with ideas.

This is especially true in careers which are creative in nature like editorial writing, scripting, drawing portraits and whatnot.  An accountant, although not having a creative nature of career, may also benefit from procrastinating and gaining some ideas for work on how to be more organized and rest up the mind before coming back to see more figure sums and stuff like that.

Conclusion

In short, procrastination is not an enemy and it is rather easy to control it.  Say to yourself that by having too long a break of procrastination without ever getting back on track, will tend to become boring as days go by.  Therefore, keep everything short and simple and be in the right track of mind, will make one to come back more fresher than ever.
