The film starts with Jacques Sauniere being chased by a hooded man called Silas, he demands to know where the Keystone in being kept and with a gun to his head Jacques tells him it is hidden in the church of Saint-Sulpice under the rose. Jacques is then shot dead but before he dies he manages to leave clues for his Granddaughter, Sophie to find. Also called to the murder scene is Professor
Robert Langdon who is an excellent code cracker and has spent his life working out ancient codes and symbols.
Sophie and Robert now have to work together to solve the clues to find out the killer of the Grandfather but they soon find things are much deeper than they thought and with Robert being pursued by the French Police as the murderer things are not going well for them. They soon uncover, with the help of Sir Leigh Teabing that a group of people are trying to uncover the secret to revealing that Jesus was not in fact a magical being who came from God but was in fact a regular human man and the whole thing was made up.
Will Robert, Sophie and Sir Leigh be able to crack the clues and find the Holy Grail before the bad people and will they finally discover the truth behind the birth of Jesus and just how deep will the clues take them?
Well, I have tried to give a very brief outline of the plot which may sound strange to some people, but there is so much more to the story and I just feel that if I reveal any more then it will spoil the film for people who have not yet watched it.
I know that this film is based on a best selling novel by Dan Brown but as I have not read the book I cannot make any comparisons with it to the film. I am pleased that I did not read the book before watching the film as I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen in the film and what the outcome would be. I did find the story was indeed very good and put across in a great way. I liked how there were lots of twists and turns and the story was not as simple as I first thought it would be.
The characters in the film were all very good and I particularly enjoyed the role which Tom Hanks played in Robert, I do enjoy his films and have only ever really watched him in light hearted films, so this was a nice change for me to see him taking on a serious characters. He came across as a very intelligent man and I did admire how he could see something once and instantly recall every detail of it. The role of Sophie was also very good and she worked well with Hanks and I did like her character and the
