Peter has got a great life, he is a composer and he is happily living with his girlfriend who is the latest TV star, Sarah Marshall. But Peters world is about to change when Sarah breaks up with him as she is seeing someone else, the newest and hottest English rock star, Aldous. Peter takes the break up very bad and after speaking to his brother he takes the advise given to him and goes to Hawaii on holiday.
When he gets there, he finds the hotel is too expensive for him. When Peter with the help of his new friends be able to forget Sarah and move on with this life and just how interested in him is receptionist Rachel?
This was a hard film choice for me. I had seen it over the weeks and picked it up and put it back down so many times as the fact that Russell Brand was in it really did put me off. After reading several reviews which say that Russell was indeed very watch able in this then I decided to give it a go and I have to say that I am so glad I did.
The storyline is good and at times very funny. I think it was a great and different way of showing how to deal with a break up and I think that Jason Segal did a great job in his role of Peter. He managed to come across as sad and lonely but at other times he really did have a good moment and make me laugh. He worked very well with Mila Kunis who played the role of Rachel and I enjoyed the chemistry which they had on screen.
The role of Sarah was played by Kirsten Bell and I did not warm to her character despite her doing a good job with the role. I found her to be too self centred and all about her self. Russell Brand took on the role of Aldous Snow, the English rock star and I think the part really did suit him as his character was a complete tit and he too is one in real life. He did make the role extremely funny at times and both me and hubby had some laugh out loud moments from him. I think he did work well with Kirsten and they had a god chemistry.
There were a lot of supporting actors and actresses in this film and they all did good jobs and gave the film some depth. The characters all gave something different, from the spaced out surfer to the sympathetic bar man. We had a good few funny scenes involving the supporting actors.
The humour in this film does come from different sources, not all of it was spoken jokes but also things which the characters would do. I found the yoga scene was funny and also the scene where Aldous was giving sex tips to the newly wed man on the beach. I think this did
