Poetry: Madness

by Beat Spiccoli

Created on: June 15, 2010

I live on another plane
Fulfilled my wishes,
In merlot dreams
Surviving the extremes
of existence in pain

I come from alleys
From sad, dead bushes
from bus stops
Avoiding the night cops
I stick to dark valleys

I'm on an unspoken trek
Ears filled with swooshes
and whispers
Damning my dead sister

Angels skipped this train wreck

In the distance I can see
A dark, stone mansion
Lovers past
Hand-in-hand they cast
Themselves to the sea

The dark mansion is too far
For my tired disease
My lips quiver
Recalling the Tigris River
And the ritual char

I wake from a haunting dream
Naked, wet and cold
I did not
Wait for them to rot
Some bodies float upstream

I stand at the iron gate
of the ancient mansion
Locked without
I kick, curse and shout
I'm missing a key trait

I pass into eternity
Moments of a new dawn
A strange body
Cloaked in dirty and shoddy
Clothes floats above me

You are too late to enter
This profane property
Go wander!
Until Judgment you'll maunder
So long, Dead Sinner!
