Why not put a little thought and creativity into Dad’s Father’s Day gift this year. You can have fun making the gift that dad will love for years to come. What can a child give their dad that is homemade? Here are a few suggestions for creative homemade gifts for Father’s Day.
A few suggestions for creative homemade Father’s Day gifts include fishing lures, targets, frames for photos, key chains, or a collage of you and him. If you would like a bigger project you might want to try a scrapbook of dad over the years.
Fishing lures - If your dad likes to fish he will love a fishing lure. You might even be making him his “lucky lure.” Fishing lures are easy to make and inexpensive compared to buying a new one.
Targets for target practice - Some dads target practice. The child can make dad a target to shoot at. He or she can put clay pigeons on cardboard for dad to shoot at. If there are no clay pigeons to be found, the child can improvise with soda cans (empty or full), juice pouches, or any other type of target they would like to hang. Simple targets of paper plates with centers drawn on them for the bulls-eye can also be used. Depending on what type of shooting dad does can depend on what type of target the child draws.
Frames for Photos - Depending on the age of the child, he or she can use anything from popsicle sticks to wood or metal. Once you have the frame then you can decorate it by drawing or even stickers. Frames for photos is a nice present for dad on Father’s Day, but he will like it even more if there is a photo of him and his special child in it.
Key Chains - For kids that are experimenting with wood working they may like to make a key chain for dad for Father’s Day. If the child is younger, he or she could laminate his or her picture, punch a whole in the laminated picture and attach it to a key ring.
Mini Desk Golf Hole - This can be made with anything from cardboard to wood. Any child can use a shoe box with a lid and turn it into a fun storage solution. The child can either use fake grass or green construction paper for the turf. Making a flat golf course is the easiest and will just require a hole in the lid for the ball to fall in. The child can use a marble as the golf ball. A net can be used in the hole to catch the ball. Use a popsicle stick or two toothpicks taped together to make a flag for the hole. Cover the rest of your box in your favorite color construction paper. Dad has a fun storage solution for a desk or anywhere.
A collage - A collage can be made by a child of any age. Let the child pick the pictures and have him or her glue them to poster board.
Scrapbook - If the child is older, the child might like to make a scrapbook for dad. The scrapbook could be a memory book for dad from his life to his life with the family. Dads like to reflect and this would be the perfect way for him to do so.
Remember that no matter what the gift, spend time with your dad on Father’s Day so he knows you are thinking about him. Happy Father’s Day.
