The secret to perpetual happiness

Happiness is a mirage. You think you can catch it, but it slips every time you seek it. The surest way to happiness is being content with what one already has. This is not an easy task. In today's world, where competition is the name of the game, being content is equivalent to being  stagnant. To have ambitions and goals in life is good. It gives you something to look forward to. But if one is never content with their present situation, then it is difficult to be happy.

If you have one car, you aim for one more. If you have two cars then you wish you owned a Lamborghini. The list never ends. But the question is how much do you need. If you have enough to fulfill your needs then everything beyond that is extra.

The question is, do you have the time to sit and enjoy what you have, or are you running in circles like a headless chicken trying to find something which even you are not aware of.

Life is simple, we make it complicated. A cup of tea, a rose bud, a breeze of fresh air or a hot bath does not cost a lot but can bring joy to your life.

Sometimes we seek thing which others have. Which makes us even more sad. We wish we had the life of our neighbor, and vice versa. But we are not aware of the difficulties of the other person. Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches.

We should be sensitive enough to the miseries of others as well. Sometimes that could make you realize how fortunate you are.  People in many parts of the world are living their lives in poverty and hunger. We should be thankful of what we have.

Every time you see someone in distress, try to help them in any way you can. That will surely bring you happiness.

Happiness is a very complicated concept. It is relative to different situations. When you were a kid, even a sticker could make you happy, but today your definition of happiness has changed.

Life is short. So instead of whining of every little shortcoming, one should try to be content with what one has, and lead a full life.

Attitude is more important than facts. If you have a positive attitude of looking at things, then happiness will find its way in you life.
