Work from Home Online: Does the Thought of Writing an Article Leave You Paralyzed By Fear?
For anyone trying to make it in the work from home online business, it's not uncommon to repeatedly hear that "content is king". Well, they're right - it's hard to get your point across or to make a compelling case for selling something if your website doesn't have some well written content on it. But if you're not a very good writer, what do you do?
Let's assume you need to write the content/article/blog yourself and don't have the money to pay someone else to do it. The first thing you need to do is research your subject and the way to do that is to look at what other people have written in your niche. Conduct a search on Google or Ezine Articles or any of the other search engines or articles directories. You'll be surprised at just how much information you can have at your fingertips very quickly.
You can learn a lot about your niche from other people's websites, but under no circumstances should you "borrow" their content and try to pass it off as your own. That's just bad business.
Instead, try to put together a summary of what you've learned from several sources. Put it in your own words and write it like you're talking to someone. Keep it simple and be natural - don't try to emulate someone else's style. There are some extremely talented writers out there, but don't let that intimidate you. More often than not, the people who write their own blogs and articles are not professional writers.
You can start by using an outline and then go back and fill in the "meat" of the points. Once you get used to conducting research and then writing about the subject, you'll start to gain more confidence because you will know and understand your niche much better. Your writing will improve as a result and it will be more natural.
Many people choose to publish their first content under a pen name. This is perfectly acceptable. You can write and publish without worrying about what others may think of you.
Overcoming this fear will be well worth the effort. You will find that once you do that, you will be able to write articles or posts with ease and in much less time. This new found confidence will improve your skills and will help you to realize the success you've always wanted online.
