A Mothers Trust
Maggie and her son Steve share a very special relationship as mother and son. The two of them share most of there day, time and trust with one another. Maggie loves to watch her son help around the house and on occasions run errands for her. Here is their story on how that trust was built.
Steve spends most of the today helping his mother around the house. He cleaned his room, took out the trash, and ran the vacuum in all the rooms of the house.
As Steve is putting the vacuum back into the closet, Maggie walks in and says, "Son you have done an excellent job of helping me around the house today. I am so proud of you. Thank you." Steve always loving to hear his mother's words praise him walks up to his mother, and hugs her saying "Your welcome mommy."
Maggie cannot help but feel so thankful for her son. She always loves to tell everyone how she has the best eight year old in the world that she can trust, and loves her.
Steve looks up at his mother and asks, "Do you need for me to run an errand next door to Mrs. Parker's house today?"
Maggie noticing the desire in his voice of wanting to feel grown up, replies, "I sure do sweetheart. I need you to take Mrs. Parker some left over cake that we are not going to eat."
"Okay mommy, I will take the cake straight to her and come straight back."
"Steve sweetie I know you will, I trust you son."
Maggie walks into the kitchen, opens the drawer to get the plastic wrap out, and take the cake off the platter. As she is wrapping the cake, Steve watches intensely.
Maggie turns to hand Steve the wrapped piece of cake saying, "Now be careful and don't run okay."
"Okay mommy." replies Steve.
As Steve walk over to the side door to open it, he hears his mother's voice, "Don't let the door slam behind you now."
"Okay mama."
Steve carefully walks down the steps balancing the cake in his hands. As he reaches the bottom step, he starts the short walk to Mrs. Parker's side porch.
As Steve is walking across the grass, he looks up and sees Mrs. Parker standing at the door. He smiles at her yelling, "Good morning, Mrs. Parker."
Mrs. Parker opens the door, giggling at how loudly Steve told her good morning, looks down at Steve saying, "Good morning to you too."
Steve carefully walks up the steps, to hand Mrs. Parke the cake. As she takes the cake from his hands, Mrs. Parker reaches over to Steve and hugs him saying "Steve thank you so much for bringing this to me."
"Your welcome Mrs. Parker." replies Steve.
"Now Steve, you be careful walking back now okay."
"Yes mam, I will."
Maggie watches Steve, walk down the steps, and back across the grass to her side door. As he walks in her side door, she looks at him saying, "Thank you baby, you did so well with everything I asked you to do and not do, that's why I trust you so much."
Steve looking puzzled asks "Mommy what do you mean by trust me with what you asked me not to do?"
Maggie seeing his confusion kneels down in front of him saying, "You see sweetheart trust is not only built on what you do or say when asked, it is also built on not doing things that you're asked not to do also, like when I told you not to run."
"Oh okay mommy, so trust is built on everything someone says and does." replies Steve.
Maggie looking so proud of him, and reaching up to rub the top of his head says, "That right baby."
