Poetry: Lessons learned

by G E Barr

Created on: June 13, 2010

I've got a ph.d in the politics of incest

A degree I can only use for reason of avoidance

The first christian woman I knew

Labored in care of a pedophile

A crude wench he picked up on daddy's property

The sharecropper's daughter

Fifteen years old seems a bit young

For eternal damnation

(The child died from his broken lamp)

I've been a pawn in a complex arrangment

Of events

Connecting the dots of memory

I am enraged

The counselors tell me I must suffer

For the anger

As though I'm some third world hag

Attributed to animalistic pursuances

I'll walk into your churches

And yell Rot In Hell

Maggots
