Cruise ship reviews: Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas

by Allen Teal

Created on: June 12, 2010

It is really hard to find a bad cruise ship in this modern era of cruising. The Enchantment of the Seas found in Royal Caribbeans fleet is no exception. It is a marvelous piece of human invention and is manned by well trained and excellent staff. With a passenger capacity of almost 2,500, Enchantment of the Seas does not rank among the largest of Royal Caribbeans ships. It is still an enormous ship.

Like many of today's cruise ships, you step onto Enchantment of the Seas inside a massive atrium.

Most guests will be somewhat awed by the grandeur of their first sight of the ship's interior. You will be treated to glass elevators rising from the entry point to the upper extremes of the ship. Polished brass and elegant wood compliment this atrium and add to its beauty.

The first experience on the ship will be a ride to the top.

All passengers are instructed to head for the upper decks to dine at the buffet that is waiting for their arrival. Most cruise ships offer this as a way for their guests to kill an hour or so until the staterooms are ready. If you have be smart and skipped lunch before boarding the ship, you will enjoy this large offering of food. The selections are excellent. The staff stays obvious so that any questions that you may have can be resolved.

Enchantment of the Seas was refurbished in 2005.

Enchantment of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbeans "Vision" class of ships. It was launched in 1997 and given a sprucing up in 2005. A number of attractions were added to the ship to make it more competitive with other new ships and to better meet guests' expectations. The ship features an all-weather pool with a retractable roof. A specialty coffee shop was added along with recreational and adventure related amenities.

Guests will be treated to a first class dining experience each night.

The dining room staff is top notch. They are personable as well as professional. The quality of the food is superior, and it is served in a timely manner. When multiple appetizers, entrees, or desserts or ordered, there is no delay in their arrival. Like all cruise ships, Enchantment of the Seas will provide some entertainment most nights during the dining experience.

The activity offerings are generally what is expected on a cruise ship.

Whether you take in the nightly show in the main theater, hang out in the casino, or play bingo, the Enchantment of the Seas offers about the same thing as any other cruise ship. The entertainment is good but not exceptional unless you
