Despite the departure of David "The Hoffman", who has been a judging regular since the series first aired. "America's Got Talent", is still a gem for entertainment television. Even though with the addition of Howie Mandell bringing his own sense of humor to the judging panel, the sometimes overly insane, fun, yet sometimes brilliantly talented contestants still make the show for what it is. It still amazes me to see how many people out there that has no talent at all, go through so many lengths of desperation to honestly, believing they have a shot into the big time, but that is what makes this show such a guilty pleasure. Unlike American Idol, where it becomes very repetitive with the constant singing, here you find people doing the most amazing things (some of which I have never seen anyone been able to do before).
The contestants this season so far has been far of amazement, like recently (from the previous Tuesday episode) the opening act with the gentlemen slow motion-glow dancing in the dark. Like where do they come up with this stuff? Although the majority of the acts that appear on the show are very tame, several have the potential to offend younger viewers. At times I often wonder why the producers allow "the so-called talent" to even be allowed to appear on stage half naked or with some very provocative clothing to indecent exposure. They have to realize being this is a summer show, children home from school will be watching this. On that level alone its irresponsibility on their part, even if they think it is for entertainment.
As for the judges, Pierce Morgan is the quintessential Simon Cowell-esque charmer, with his very opinionated mind and self-wit, being the only original judge for the U.S. version, he still shows how much he apperciates his job. Sharon Osborne is still the gracious, humble and open-minded woman that she is, and even though David is not on the show anymore, Howie has managed to fit himself in. Although I feel like there was a great dynamic of energy between David, Sharon and Pierce (just like the dynamic on American Idol, with Simon, Paula and Randy) it is hard to watch a show when the chemistry between the main cast or stars is not there anymore, but given time I am sure there will be some sort of spark with the current judges as the episodes progress. Nick Cannon as cheesy as he is at times, is a remarkable young host for the show, because he has a talent background so one could apperciate the beauty of it (no matter how ugly it gets). Nevertheless you just got to watch this show, if you want a good laugh and a good time.
