The heart shaped face is recognized by its' wide forehead, high cheekbones and tapered chin. In general, its' overall shape and natural characteristics are very similar to the oval face. Jewellery pieces can be worn to accentuate your best features, while providing the illusion of length to; balance your wider eyes, make your forehead appear narrower, and chin appear wider.

To help create a polished and well-balanced look, the choices in jewellery that you choose to wear should reflect these elements in their shapes and styles, (especially with pieces that are worn close to the face).

Necklaces

A necklace is one of the most expressive pieces of jewellery worn.  It can frame the face; draw attention to specific features (depending upon the length, size and style chosen), and accentuate personal style.  With a wide range of styles, shapes, sizes, materials and colours available, wearing a necklace is a great way to complete a look.  Here are a few basic tips to keep in mind when choosing jewellery for a round facial shape.

Wear

Choker and collar necklaces are very popular styles. They help to soften and diminish the sharp angle of your narrow chin.  If your neck area is fuller, try wearing a princess length.

Necklaces in triple, or double strand pearls are also flattering choices. By creating the appearance of fullness around the neck area (with the right necklace), will help to balance the wider eye and cheekbone area, on your heart shaped face.

Avoid

Opera length or longer necklaces of any style (especially if you have a long neck).

Very small pearls, stones and delicate pieces that tend to lessen the visual weight in your neck area (unless you have a full neck). They will also accentuate the sharp angle of your chin.

Earrings

With so many different shapes and styles of earrings available: ovals, buttons, drop chandeliers, hoops, studs, posts, squares, diamonds, triangles, and hearts (just to name a few); the choices seem to be endless! That's why it's important to choose styles, shapes and sizes that both compliment your facial shape and accentuate your personal style.  Always keep mind that the larger the earrings, the more noticeable they are. Therefore the types of earrings that you choose to wear have a direct impact on your overall appearance.  This could have the potential of bringing out your best features, or pointing out your flaws. Earrings are worn so closely to the face, that they're often considered to be one of the most important accessories. They have the ability to reflect light and flattering colour onto your face. The following are a few suggestions to help you choose the best type of earring styles and shapes for you.

Wear

Any shape, as long as they are widest at the bottom to help create a sense of added width, and balance to your narrow chin.

Dangling earrings like triangle shapes that are wide at the bottom, button earrings, and teardrops are especially flattering.

Select shapes that are wider than they are long.

Avoid

Any small studs or flat, delicate styles.

Any style of earrings which are wider at the top, and narrower at the bottom.

Long, dangling earrings that are narrow.

The most important thing to remember when choosing jewellery for yourself is that you must feel comfortable.  Whichever types of styles you choose to wear, always make sure that your unique personality is able to shine through; and that you feel confident, beautiful and at ease.  Style is important, but do not put it above your own personal comfort. Always keep in mind that if you don't feel comfortable with yourself, nothing else matters.
