I have to say over the last year I have become somewhat of a fan of Nicholas Sparks writing, for some reason he manages to make me feel so many different emotions in his work I just cannot put his books down. I was so pleased when hubby spotted this book and so treated me to it, that was 2 days ago and I have just finished reading it!
The story starts by introducing us to Clayton who is hiding taking photographs of topless college girls sunbathing, he is disturbed though by a travelling man with his dog who we get to know as Thighbolt. Clayton is not happy at being disturbed so decided to use his
Clayton is not happy and vows revenge.
We then get to find out about Thighbolt, he was in the Marines and fought several times in Iraq, he found a photograph of a girl and when no one claimed it he kept it and since picking it up it became a guardian as he was never hurt and survived when others around him got killed. His friend says that once he leave Iraq he should seek out the girl and pay her back for keeping him safe. Thighbolt is on his way to finding the girl, that is why he is walking but he has no idea where to start looking for her. He soon comes across a small town where he decides to stay for a few days but once he finds information which is helpful to him he gets a job and sets up home.
Will Thighbolt be able to track the girl in the photograph and what will happen if she does and will Clayton get his revenge on Thighbolt for slashing his tyres and is his part in Thighbolt quest more than he could imagine?
The plot summery which I have Logan as he later becomes known as this is his first name, travel so far and go through so much to find the woman who he believed saved his life. There are parts of the book which take us back to the time when Thighbolt was out in Iraq but this is still very easy to follow and did give us a much better insight into why he was travelling. I also loved the addition of Zeus, Thighbolt dog, he was a whole character in himself with the way he was so protective and well trained. From reading the book I was easily able to imagine all of the places which were visited and talked about, so too with the characters.
This book was so easy to read and follow despite the chapters being split into the character, there are 3 main characters which have chapters named after them, it was easy to keep following the story as the 3 characters were all connected in some way or other so the story just moved on and did not become confusing at any point. I was also feeling so many different emotions in this book, from laughter to one of Nana’s funny sayings to Nicholas Sparks and published by Sphere.
This book gets the full 5 stars from me as it is so engaging I was not able to put t down, the storyline is excellent and very true to life and the characters were all so easy to get to know. This is definitely one for all Sparks fans.
