Youth, where did you go?
You took the sparkle from my eyes
The shine from my hair
You took the blush from my cheeks
You left my soul lying bare
Where are the passions that once raged
Where are the lips longing for love
What else did you take
when you silently slipped away
leaving loneliness in your wake
Oh youth, where have you gone
My yester years don’t seem so far away
But your absence is noticed
One day you were with me
Together we won every battle
Now I no longer wish to fight
I am content to sit and to watch
As the rest of the world contends for the gold
Oh youth where are you now
When I need you so
You found someone much younger?
Ahhh –yes, I know.

are dead in my throat.
