Best video games ever

Created on: June 09, 2010

Video games have become a cultural phenomenon in the 40 years since they have arrived on the market. Making a list of the best ones is a challenging task that can be very subjective. Here are some games that I consider to be the greatest of all time.

Super Mario Bros 3 (NES)

When Nintendo created Super Mario Bros to include with its new NES system, it started whole new era of game playing. The release of Super Mario Bros. 3 took the platform series to a whole new level. The game was challenging but yet very playable at the same time.  The complex levels and wonderful graphics made the game a must-buy. It has been called the greatest game ever made for the NES system and it is hard to argue against it. 20 Years later, it is still a fun game to play.

Super Mario Kart (SNES)

Racing games have usually been serious games designed to give the player a sense of realism in the world of racing. Mario Kart proved that a racing game can be fun and cute at the same time. The game physics are not true to life but that does not matter. All your favorite Mario characters are there and there are plenty of cool tracks and obstacles to throw your rivals off course. Mario Kart spawned many imitations and paved the way for many more competition games involving the Mario characters.

Goldeneye (N64)

Goldeneye was not the very first shooting game developed from a first-persons point of view, but it revolutionized the genre. It went against the Nintendo tradition of having family oriented games, but the game was just impossible to put down. Goldeneye was action-packed, fun to play, and had great repeatability.

Halo (XBOX)

Halo is the premiere title for the original XBOX system and deservedly so. It has a great story, remarkable graphics, and intense game play that a shooting game needs to have. The game is sophisticated enough to keep you interested and the variety of weapons and vehicles will prevent you from getting bored. First person shooters should all be like Halo.

The Legend Of Zelda (NES)

The Legend Of Zelda was a unique blend of action, puzzle solving, and exploring. Exploring dungeons was one of the staples in the Zelda series and it proved to be a highlight of the series. Zelda’s blend of avoiding enemies and searching for items had just the right difficulty level that made you play for hours. Treasure hunting has never been so much fun.

Pacman (arcade)

The early days of video games were dominated by games where you had to shoot aliens or play sports. When Pacman
