Evaluating online poker websites
Online poker websites/downloads are increasing in popularity every year and have many pros and cons that everyone should be aware of before playing for real money. Although iconic poker websites such as Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars and PKR claim that they have software that detects any player that is trying cheat I have personally experienced that it is very possible to hack an opponents computer whilst running poker software. No poker website can guarantee you 100% protection and if they are then they are lieing because even the icons of the industry cannot do this.
Although you are not guarenteed 100% protection when downloading software from websites to play there are very few who can hack this well and see your cards. Online poker has many pros and cons that help you to win but also can leave you unaware that you are being played.
Pros of online poker
Online poker enables you to take out the entire element of body language and reading your opponent in the flesh, this enables you to bluff more and make better moves. Comfort of your own home is always an amazing application of the Internet and poker freedom to release any emotion and also giving you better freedom over the table. Casino's can be rough and avoiding conversation or moving tables can be a hassle, online in much easier to avoid anyone or faster for moving tables.
Cons of online poker
Gambling in any shape or form online usually has more cons than pros and online poker is no exception! There are many ways you can be scammed which are very hard to detect and realize whilst playing.
Collusion
Collusion is when several players at a table work together against one player and gradually take their stack or even bankroll, the only way you can really avoid this is to play at a table where you may know a few players.
Running servers
Running servers is one person with several computers with all different I.P addresses and plays with much better odds when he is 5 out of 6 of the players at the table.
Poker websites can only detect if one player has more than one account from an I.P address of information filled in upon sign up, obviously scammers aren't going to fill in their same detail and the I.P address can be concealed if you own your own business or you are working from offices from a larger server.
Being scammed through online poker websites/downloads is fare too easy and hard to know when your lose is legitemate or planned, from personal experience I have noticed that there is always a bigger fish out in the sea out to get you with online poker and if he is holding the right “cards” he will make it win.
