The Three Musketeers begins with a poor yet brave man called d’ Artagnan. He starts out journeying to Paris to seek a fortune, with only a few coins in his pockets, the clothes on his back, his sword, and his trusty steed, an old yellow horse, along with a letter from his father addressed to the captain of the musketeers. Unfortunately, he has an incident with a strange man along the way and loses his letter.
After arriving in Paris, he talks to the captain of the musketeers, who is just going to offer him enrollment in an academy when he sees the man who took his letter. Filled with anger, he rushes out to attack him, only to lose the man and bump into 3 musketeers called Aramis, Athos, and Porthos, who, in annoyance, challenge him to a duel, which d’ Artagnan accepts. Later, when the time for the duel comes, 5 of the cardinal’s men, who are the main enemies of the musketeers, appear and charge the 4 duelers for arrest. Not wanting to be arrested by the Cardinal, the 3 musketeers and d’ Artagnan group together and fight the cardinal’s men. D’ Artagnan proves to be a wonderful swordsman, wounding the captain of the band of guards severely, and helping win the battle.
All the dueling forgotten, D’ Artagnan walks away with the 3 musketeers, now friends, banded together by the battle which D’ Artagnan helped to turn the tide. d’ Artagnan continually proves himself to his friends over and over again with his bravery, courage, and goodwill, allowing himself to be placed in the king’s regiment.
Everything is going well for the quartet of swordsmen, until d’ Artagnan stumbles upon Madam Bonancieux, a servant of the queen of France, and rescues her from her captors, all the while harboring a secret love for her. d’ Artagnan continues harassing and ruining the cardinal’s plans, but he soon gets his own share of troubles, when his love, Madam Bonancieux, is abducted by the cardinal’s agents.
Now on a new quest to rescue her, d’ Artagnan stumble upon a mysterious woman known as “my Lady” who possesses both beauty and a strong mind. After fruitlessly trying to juice information out of her, including posing as her true love, d’ Artagnan reveals himself, with dire consequences. Overcome with a burning anger, she tries to kill d’ Artagnan in every way possible.
Soon however, d’ Artagnan has other things to do, aside from avenging himself on Bonanciuex’s
