Will Bill O'Reilly help shape the 2008 presidential election?

Absolutely not. O'Reilly, while occasionally identifying and exposing outrageous actions in government and business, is basically a self-promoter. What other news talk show host has his own line of products and sells premium memberships to his website?

He does not have the "gravitas" necessary to influence the people who vote in the various primaries and caucuses that select the major party candidates. Since his viewpoints are mostly conservative, he will not exert any influence on the majority of general election voters, who are moderate. Even his own fan base, mostly hard-line conservatives, will be voting for a candidate they perceive as most conservative, so O'Reilly's influence on them will be meaningless in terms of shaping their opinion.

Blowhards make lots of wind, which we all know has no substance!
