Often young boys and girls are asked the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Usually the answer that arises is a policeman, a fire fighter, a businessman, or what occupation their parents have pursued. However, on many occasions, one starry eyed kid looks up at you with a look of utmost ambition and tells you with confidence that one day, they will be president of the United States of America.
It has always intrigued me to think that one day, a small, naïve, and unknowing little child will one day, possess the most prestigious and influential name as the president of our country. I cannot say that I would want to become president of the United States, mainly because I am not that starry eyed kid, unknowing of the true and often menacing workings of our world today.
This is the conception that is perceived by many Americans: The road to presidency is a daunting task, one that requires the individual to be independent in a world of competitors and resilient against the many hard-hitting elements that will come their way.
This statement, in a very small sense is true, only because it is a difficult task, but one that can easily be overcame by help from others. In fact, many people view the president today as a man who stands apart from the rest and leads with their very own intention, intentions influenced by the American people.
Sadly though, the presidency isn’t led by independence and over all, the only aspect of the presidents leadership that land him the job title will be his charismatic nature, not his ambitions to seek “change”.
With this being said, the endeavors that I would pursue if I were president can be summed up into one statement: I would not conform to evil.
Some would suggest that it is unnecessary for me to say, “I would not conform to evil”, when I could very well just say, “I would not conform.” It is often mistakenly construed that conformity in itself is evil and is carried out through peer pressure. After all, is this not what we tell the young, to not give in to peer pressure and not conform to others wishes but their own?
Then we turn right around and tell them to unify with one another and befriend all that come their way. Therefore, it is apparent that conformity to evil is what is wrong, not conformity. The presidency is defined by conformity. Whether it is republican or democratic, conservative or liberal, and most blatantly, right or wrong, the president must
