How to clean a stove top

Created on: June 07, 2010

We all dread having to clean the stove top, but it most be done in order to prevent bacteria from making you and your family sick. Here are some ways on how to clean a stove top in a short amount of time and kills bacteria in no time.

1.) Remove Everything From The Stove Top.

One thing you should do before you take the time to clean the stove top would be to remove everything from the stove top and place it into a sink of hot water. Once the sink of hot water has cooled down the next thing you should do would be to drain the sink and place hot, soapy water into the sink again and allow the stove top items to soak at least ten minutes before you take the time to rinse. The next thing you should do would be to rinse the stove top items in hot water for at least 30 seconds to kill any bacteria left on the items. Now you should allow the stove top items to air dry and let them sit on a towel.

2.) Baking Soda and Hot Water.

Next thing that needs to be done would be to put 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of hot water into a spray bottle of your choice. The next thing you will need to do would be to obtain a soft, non-scratch sponge and spray the baking soda mixture onto the stove top and scrub it with the sponge. Once you have taking the time to scrub the stove top the next thing you should do would be to allow the mixture to air dry and come back and repeat the same process in order to kill any bacteria.

3.) Use Lysol All Purpose Cleaner.

The next step would be to use lysol all purpose cleaner and spray the mixture on top of the air dried baking soda mixture. Then you will need to scrub the stove top with a soft, non scratch sponge and be sure to scrub for at least a few minutes to make sure you got the spot clean. Then you will need to allow that to air dry and repeat the process all over again, since it helps kill any bacteria or remove stubborn dirt stains that drive you crazy.

4.) Put Everything Back.

The last step would be to put everything back onto the stove top and be sure to clean the stove top at least once a week, otherwise you could end up with some bacteria that can make you and your family sick.  However, for the best benefit you should at least clean the stove top twice a week if possible in order to prevent germs from spreading to other areas of the kitchen.
