A place to call home, how many of us take this for granted, thinking that is how it is supposed to be? How many here know what can happen if a person is out in the street? Are dogs any different? Does it seem that dogs are a lesser being? These and many other questions may coarse through your mind as you explore this topic. My only objective is to share one view, take it as a guideline or dismiss it the choice is yours.

First and foremost, dogs are most certainly sentient beings, in the sense they can offer so much through residing by your side through the good times and bad. Offering comfort when you are sad, enjoying each moment fully because that is all they are aware of. Life lived by the moment, to love unconditionally is a dogs credo.

Secondly, a dog that is out in the street, surviving however he/she can, can be a risky endeavour. While most strays keep to there own way, you need to be careful when approaching them. To many of these dogs who may of just been a gift to a child, on the assumption they want a dog. Assumptions are dangerous things, you would hope that everyone who ever receives a dog would accept it. Perhaps initially they would until they start realizing it is going to take work. It is at this point many people will give up and just drop the dog somewhere away from home thinking the dog can survive on its own. With the majority of the once majestic forests and open spaces have become roads, what may be safe with a dog on a lead and a caring owner can become the worst hazards imaginable to an animal who knows nothing of the streets may not be so fortunate to learn and survive, the higher likelihood that same animal may instead be dead.

Thirdly, if a dog ends up in the pound after being on the street to long, it may be difficult to train that dog so that he/she may be adopted by a loving owner. Often what happens if a dog is to far beyond reproach the only option is to "Humanely Euphanise" or in simpler terms to be killed by "lethal injection". What a term that is, to say it is humane is only to make it politically correct, would it not make better sense to instead offer a temporary home, a caring place that will take the time to make said dog more relateable. More willing to follow it's own credo? Instead of lethal injection why not instead do what you can to bring that dog back to what it's true nature is.

Foster homes offer a caring and supportive environment for a dog that has been out in the streets that understood at that moment
