Where to start your home decorating project

Home redecorating can be accomplished with a few simple steps. We are not talking about a major remodel job, but doing some simple decorating ideas that can create astounding changes.

Most people already do redecorating when they add, remove or change things in their home for holidays and special occasions. During these times some decorate a single room while others do their entire home.

Taking that concept, one can easily adjust to make other redecorating projects even on a shoestring budget. The best thing to remember is you can always change those decorating ideas any time you choose!

Where to start is up to you and how comfortable you are with your objective and your ability to make those changes. You may not be able to change the color of your bathroom facilities, but you can make color changes in curtains, floor rugs, towels and objects that sit on your counters. You might even add a live plant, or a fake plant if you or someone in your household has allergies. If your bathroom has air ventilation, it would be safe to add a hanging picture or two.

You might need help to move heavy furniture, and perhaps that living room, den or bedroom is too small to move too many items, but you can still accomplish some redecorating. Rearranging hanging pictures by moving or replacing can begin the change. Curtains, throw covers and colorful throw pillows can also create a difference.

Dining areas come in all sizes and shapes, from extensions to kitchen or separate rooms. They too can undergo some redecorating projects. In the dining area, the simplest is to change the table cover. Your centerpiece can reflect the season by flower vases with fresh cut flowers, to dried floral arrangements. Other centerpieces might include that handed down cut glass bowl with some artificial fruits, or feature anything you desire.

Kitchen redecorating projects are not the easiest to accomplish. Cabinets, counters and large appliances are built in features in most kitchens. Some easier, inexpensive redecorating can be as simple as rearranging the smaller appliances that often sit on the countertops, to adding some hanging devices to display cups or smaller size sets of pots and pans. Refrigerator magnets can also be a part of a redecorating project. For example, colorful fish to holiday or special occasions can easily be found in many stores, if you don’t have some hidden away in that ‘catch-all drawer’. A small stack of colorful kitchen towels can be displayed, or you can obtain some new curtains with various designs.

The most important thing to remember is that you are redecorating for you and your family, so experiment and enjoy!
