Motown's greatest artists

The sweet sounds of Motown placed its mark in music history with overwhelming success.  During a time when U.S society was struggling to conquer the racial divide, along came artists that sang soulful tunes which no one with ears could resist.  I’m not sure if Motown’s founder Berry Gordy was extremely smart or just beyond brave.  What I am sure of is that the result was and still is undeniable to individuals of assorted ages and cultures.

Recording albums that climbed the charts at rates quicker than the speed of lightning were hits by The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and The Supremes just to name a few.  These are the pioneers of a new sound that eventually led to what is now referred to as R&B music.  In fact, the hip-hop industry has used many of their songs as a base for years.  It’s no wonder that listening to songs like “My Girl” and “You Really Got A Hold On Me”, produced a generation known as the “Baby Boomers”.

If you think about it, when is the last time you truly heard music as touching as that of which came out of the “Hit Factory”.  For those of you who don’t know, that’s was the nickname for the famous studio where all Gordy’s talent recorded.  And how can we forget about the unified dance moves that were too smooth to emulate.  I have yet to hear music so touching, especially compared to some of the lyrically disabled noise that’s being played on our stereos today.

Motown operated as a family and it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that many of them are still very close, despite their growth in the industry.  Can you imagine how many women would give anything for a man to admit the he “Aint’ to proud to beg”, these days?  Regardless, times have changed.  But it sure would be nice to have composition of that type in the present.  Gordy must be very proud of himself, and rightfully so.  It’s unfortunate that music changes with the times, because having a clone of the 60’s and 70’s decades wouldn’t be a bad idea at all!

Right here today, I claim the Motown sound a genuine phenomenon.  If anyone chooses to reprimand me on that opinion, you should without a doubt do more research on musical history.  If there was one thing that I could say to Berry Gordy and the Motown family, it would be “Thanks for taking us to Hitsville!”
