The first wave of the summer blockbusters has arrived through the month of June. Movies like Marmaduke, Killers, Ondine, The A-Team, and Wild Grass, take their shot at the big screen. Highly anticipated movies such as Toy Story 3 and Twilight: Eclipse are also making their debut.
The movies for June will try to make you laugh, cry, maybe think and try to scare you to death.
Friday, June 4th:
Marmaduke
Marmaduke is a comedy based off the lovable comic strip character with Owen Wilson providing the voice of the adventurous Great Dane. The flick also stars Judy Greer, George Lopez, Lee Pace and Fergie. The movie is rated PG.
Get Him to the Greek
This film is an adult comedy about a young executive trying to transport a rock star to a concert at L.A.’s Greek for his comeback. Jonah Hill and Russell Brand fill the lead roles for this film. Get Him to the Greek is rated R.
Splice
Splice is a Sci-fi Thriler/Horror about science splicing human DNA for experiments. This thriller features Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley. Due to the nature of the content in this film, the movie is rated R.
Killers
This movie is an action comedy of Ashton Kutcher being a super-spy hit man and a newlywed to an unaware wife and her in-laws. This movie stars Aston Kutcher and Katherine Heigl and is rated PG-13.
Ondine
Ondine is about a fisherman that catches a mysterious woman in his nets. This event is one that changes his life. Stars Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda-Curus, and this movie is rated PG-13.
Friday, June 11th:
The A-Team
This flick is a big screen version of the 1980’s TV program. The A-Team stars Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper. The movie is not yet rated.
The Karate Kid
The Karate Kid is a retelling of the original story of a 12 year old boy befriending an aging maintenance man that trains him in lessons of defense and life. The remake of the film stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. The movie is rated PG.
Friday, June 18th:
The long awaited third installment of the story of Andy’s two favorite toys Woody and Buzz.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return to offer their voices for the two loveable toys. A 3D version of the trilogy will also be released in IMAX theatres and Disney Digital 3-D. The movie is not yet rated.
Jonah Hexis
This film is a re-telling of the 1970s story of a gun-fighter/bounty hunter. Jonah Hexis stars Josh Brolin and John Malkovich. The movie is not yet rated.
Friday, June 25th:
Grown Ups
Grown Ups is a comedy about a high school basketball team coming back together after 30 years. Adam Sandler and Kevin James star in the leading roles for this film. The movie is not yet rated.
Wild Grass
Wild Grass is about a man that becomes obsessed with a woman after finding her lost wallet. The movie stars Mathieu Amalric and Sabine Azeme. Wild Grass has been rated PG.
Knight and Day
This new release is an action adventure chase movie which stars Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. The movie is not yet rated.
Wednesday, 30th:
Twilight: Eclipse
Twi-hards wait no more. Twilight Saga: Eclipse is the third installment of the Twilight series, based off the popular novels. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson reprise their roles for this popular series. The movie is not yet rated.
This summer’s blockbusters will certainly entertain the audiences with the variety of genres. These big screen movies are only the beginning of Hollywood’s attempt to draw a crowd to the theater.
