There are many different types of facial shapes. Some people have round features, while others may have angular characteristics. Sometimes there is a combination of round and angular shapes that forms an appearance. Every facial shape is unique, therefore it's important to understand how to identify your own personal features.
The Oval Face
Recognized as the "perfect face shape," because of its' balanced jaw-line and forehead with high cheekbones and a slightly narrow or rounded chin. The overall shape and natural characteristics of the oval face are well balanced.
The Round Face
The distance between the top and bottom of the round face is similar to the distance between the cheeks. Other characteristics also include undefined cheekbones with full, round features and very few (or no) angles.
The Square Face
The distance between the top and bottom areas is similar to the distance between the cheeks. There's a broad jaw-line and forehead, wide angular cheekbones and chin. Its' overall shape and characteristics are angular.
The Rectangle Face
This shape is recognized by its' high forehead, long chin, long length, narrow width, and distinguishable angles. In general, its' overall shape and natural characteristics are rectangular.
The Diamond Face
A diamond has a small forehead that is widest at the eye-line and cheek-line, which narrows to a small chin. Overall shape is very similar to the natural characteristics of an oval shape (but with corners which makes it more angular).
The Oblong Face
This face shape is long and thin, with a forehead, cheek and jaw-line that are all similar in width. In general, its' overall shape are very similar to the natural characteristics an oval shape (except it is much longer, narrower and angular).
The Heart Face
The heart shape is recognized by its' wide forehead, high cheekbones and tapered chin. Its' overall shape and natural characteristics are very similar to the oval face.
The Triangle Face (Up-Base)
Characteristics include; a wide forehead, that slightly tapers into the cheek area, and narrows to the chin. In general, its' overall shape and natural characteristics are very similar to the heart shape face, (except it has corners and angles).
Triangle Face (Down-Base)
The characteristics include; a narrow forehead, that slightly widens into the cheek area, with a heavy jaw-line. Its' overall shape and natural characteristics are very similar to an inverted heart shape face, (except it has corners and angles).
