It truly is confusing to select between the different types of computer systems available today. Laptops, desktops and now even tablet computers have invaded the market making consumers more confused. And the choice becomes even tougher with the features and the attractiveness packed in these gadgets. So how do you decide which one is the best for you?
Whatever you do the choice should be rational and based on your requirements and not on the desire of having the most chic gadget in your friends circle. Here are certain points that will make it easier for you to make the choice:
Is mobility important for you?
Probably the major reason why people opt for laptops is because they are mobile and portable. If you don’t really have the need of taking your computer with you then you should stick to desktops as you can get a more powerful machine in the same price you would be paying for a mediocre laptop. However, if mobility is your concern then you should go for a laptop.
What is your comfort level?
The second thing to consider when choosing between a laptop and a desktop is the comfort level. Both of these machine types provide you different comforts. With a laptop you would be able to move around, sit on the desk or on your bed and work which you can’t with a desktop. The problem with most of the laptops is their screens and their keyboards. The keyboards are not very comfortable and the screens reflect light which makes it difficult for the user to view it under heavy lightning conditions. The advantage you get with a desktop is you can choose the most comfortable keyboard on the planet and go for the best type of monitor you want.
Maintaining your machine…
This is one major concern and you should consider it before you buy your machine. Desktop computers have minimal maintenance requirements whereas laptops have higher. If a certain component of your desktop machine goes bad you can replace it but in most of the cases with a laptop you need to change the whole machine. Desktop computers are also easy to clean and maintain compared to laptops. On the other hand, laptops are less space consuming and you would not need a separate table and loads of wires for it instead you can utilize your study table for it.
Conclusion:
There are pros and cons in both the machines but the choice should be made after thinking about all the factors. Traveling, mobility, comfort level, price, etc. are factors that you need to think about before you take your decision.
