This is debatable, but all in all you cannot truly learn how to ski through online lessons. I am a ski instructor and I have been skiing since I was three years old. You could take many positions on this topic, but from the point of view of a trained instructor, you cannot.

Learning how to ski takes time and by sitting at home and watching online lessons, you will not get the feel for what skiing is actually like. You may get a general understanding from watching online ski lessons and you may get some helpful tips, but in the end you need to go out and try skiing for real. I would highly recommend taking lessons, because skiing is a sport where if you do not learn proper form then you may have a lot of trouble to change to the right form.

By going out and trying to learn how to ski it gives people a true feel for what it is like, because when you watch a video of someone skiing you cannot tell everything just by watching it. There are many things that are hidden. I know this is more of a debate, but just to name a few things about skiing: there are four main parts Balance, Edge Control, Rotation, and Pressure. These are the four main things that affect how people ski and they also help them learn how to ski.

This is the case for most things, you learn from experience, which means you need to go out and try it for yourself. Also, remember not to get discouraged because sometimes skiing isn't right for everyone or it just takes time to learn. However, please do not let me discourage you, I would recommend that everyone tries out skiing for themselves at least once in their lifetime because you cannot learn how to do something without going out and trying it for yourself.

I am not saying that online ski lessons are useless. They definitely do help, but in order to truly learn how to ski, I would say that you have to get out and try it for your self. That is when you will truly learn how to ski. I hope that I was able to help some people with my opinion and in the end it is your choice, but just take for granted what I said and most off, HAVE FUN!
