Fear sells. That is what is in demand right now. Fox News, since the start of the previous President's 'first' term, has exercised its right to spread propaganda and to amplify the fear that exists today. Even if you choose to visit foxnews.com for the first time, you will see a perfect example of its power. The top story is about a middle school student who was suspended from school for wearing a rosary. This is in no way news, especially even the fact that there were countless other news stories to report. Fox News is talk radio, not news. The fact that they have news in their name means nothing.
Let's examine other sources of news, CNN, NPR, and the New York Times. These news organizations fill their material with national and world events. They all give time and space to political and social news, however not in the frequency that Fox News does.
Let's also examine the perception that Fox News is 'fair and balanced'. Just because they say they are, does not mean that they are anywhere close to it. The vast majority of their stories are political, religious, or patriotic in nature. Not that there is anything wrong with being patriotic, it is a poor, very poor card to play in order to win the respect and admiration of simple minded people.
Fox News is popular because people are afraid and confused about what happens in the world around us. It is not because the majority of the viewers are republican, or simple minded, or religious; it is because they are afraid.
Fox News tries to tell us what we should be mad about just because they are. The facts of this are profound. This popularity comes at a heavy price. I believe this organization is strongly right leaning and will continue to push a right wing agenda. This is not news, it is propaganda.
I follow Fox News on a daily basis, just as people read up on the latest gossip. You have to have a well-rounded viewpoint when it comes to news. News should be about facts, not opinion.
I cannot stand watching Fox News, as it is just too opinionated and not objective. The organization does not follow simple journalistic rules when it comes to reporting the news. Quite frankly, this piece that I am writing is just my opinion. If you want to see more about what Fox News does to what once was a respectable field, navigate to newshounds.com.
