Best Hotels in Athens Greece

The legacy hotel of Athens where dignitaries and celebrities stay.  A good hotel if someone else is paying for accommodations.  One of those hotels where anything a guest needs, they will get, but not necessarily without cost.  The name is a bit unusual, French for "Great Britain" in a Greek city.

In the centre of Athens on the main shopping street with all the conveniences most traveller will need.  Air Conditioned, baby cribs, and most other basic amenities are available at a good value.  Across from Syntagma, the capitol building, and McDonald's so good to avoid at times of protest and unrest. 

Amazon Hotel

Appreciate convenient locations but looking to save with Spartan accommodations.  Amazon hotel provides the central location at the lowest price with clean rooms.  Shortfalls in the accommodations include jet liner size washrooms and even smaller elevators.

Fresh Hotel

The famous boutique hotel in the centre of Athens.  Great for the fashion conscious traveller.  Fantastic view of the Acropolis and city from the roof top garden and most rooms have balconies.  Though the stock exchange is nearby, Sofokleous street is known for its seedy history with the neighbourhood supposedly on the rebound.  It's the centre of Athens, but a 10 minute walk to get most anywhere.

If you are frustrated with airline travel, waste no time and escape to the luxurious Sofitel Hotel located across the street from Athens Airport.  Expensive and worth it for the convenience of catching a next day flight or just unwinding from an intense anxiety filled trip.

Want to be by the airport, but luxury is not the top priority?  Holiday Inn Athens in Peania is the closest inexpensive hotel just a short taxi ride away.  Just don't plan on taking in any sites or culture because the hotel is pretty far from most everything else.

Escape the summer heat of the inner city by going to the Coral Hotel on the coast.  Close to a neighbourhood square, beaches, and the main avenue to catch a taxi to anywhere else.  The area is largely inhabited by locals with no tourist amenities like tours or travel agencies.
