Harry Potter. This boy's sheer genius! A cool dude if ever there was one. He is the ultimate hero, standing alone, facing off the dark forces that threaten himself and his friends and teachers. Not arrogant, he comes across as the boy next door, cute and unassuming but wow will he be there if you need him! Although he’s a wonderful wizard he’s human too and his vulnerability is endearing and this makes him so much more courageous.
Ron Weasley, Harry Potter’s friend is also a favourite of mine because he’s so normal and frightened of everything that you just want to say “ Hey Ron don't worry Harry’ll sort it out!”
Hermione, here come the girl’s girl! She just won’t take any messin' around and tells everyone what she thinks of them, but loves them just the same and really cares for Harry’s welfare and looks after Ron too. She is top of the class for most things if not everything, don’t you just hate her but love her at the same time.
Dobby the house elf, I want one too. This adorable little creature who, unlike other house elves wants to be set free and is, when Harry, boy genius, tricks Malfoy into setting him free from being the Malfoy's slave. This act secures Harry the elfs undying loyalty.
Hagrid. The half giant keeper of keys and grounds, gamekeeper and teacher of The Care of Magical Creatures. This big cuddly fiercely loyal giant, oops sorry, half giant was the one who rescued Harry from his house after his parents had been killed.
Which brings me to the most wonderfully frightening villain, the enemy of Harry Potter Lord Voldemort. Too frightened to utter his name he is only referred to as “You -Know-Who” or “The-One-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named”. He is trying to defeat and conquer the wizard world and the muggle world( the non magical world) too. This character is played superbly in the films. He is always doing his best to kill Harry.
Phew! After that some of my more serene favourite characters are Paddington Bear. I just love this marmalade sandwich eating bear, well in my childhood days he ate them, I believe now he prefers Marmite.
Miss Jean Brodie, from the book The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. She was an extremely passionate woman in her prime and was very aware of her sexuality and sensuality. Her class of girls were very dear to her and she sought to teach them about life and living, not just the usual subjects.
Just a few of my favorite things….oh Maria, she’s another story!(Julie Andrews) The Sound of Music.
