What did inspire me to become a writer? When I look back on it I realize it wasn’t just one thing, but a combination of many. My imagination is very vivid and at times words and scenes just came from nowhere. What else could be done but to write these very things that plagued me?
I would see a picture and soon a story or poem would develop in my mind. There is an old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. I never believed in it. Sometimes words can not capture the depth of the soul. The way a child’s eyes sparkle with excitement or even the hidden thoughts of a lover and their mate can not always be captured by just a mere thousand words. No It takes more. It takes imagination; it takes strength and purpose , and the will to believe.
Dreams, fantasies, a story left untold So real it would seem, but in the writing of it, perhaps it was only a dream. Nightmares, loneliness, a souls ache that won’t let go. It sucks you in, pulling you under as you drown in the murky depths of pain.
A gentle breeze, a savage storm, maniacal laughter riding the edge of sanity , The loss of hope, the gain of hope and the faith to believe in God through Jesus Christ our Savior, aye these are all things that inspire.
Sometimes the spoken word cannot really convey your thoughts but the written word can be quite eloquent. I choose different words on paper that I would in my speech. More descriptive, more refined. People need to feel what they read, they need to be the character in a story, a movie, a play. They need to jump when surprised, laugh when something is funny, and smile when they are happy.
You can write anything on paper and hide it from sight. Your feelings, thoughts, dreams anger, and the paper will not tell unless you wish it so by showing someone, yet tell even one person what you are feeling and soon everyone knows.
I started writing in high school which was many, many years ago, and I still find it the best form of release.
Another old saying “The pen is mightier than the sword,” well that quote I do believe. Words can hurt and even though they can’t make you bleed, you feel them for a long time to come.
My inspiration to write was not by choice but by need. Something that was inside needing to escape.
