Why you should write for Factoidz

by Jaye Green

Created on: May 29, 2010

I do not recommend Factoidz.  I was lured into writing for them, and it is only after I was ripped off that I actually realised what had happened.

Firstly, as far too many, I did not read their terms of use before joining.  I read it after.  I draw your attention to it, especially para (p).  By clicking I agree they get absolute right to your work, EVEN WORK THEY HAVE NOT PAID FOR.

Factoidz has a trick they pull on the aspiring writer. After 'acceptance'  where they gain a sample of your work for free,  they start you at Factoidz Writer where you can not edit or delete your work.

They publish your item and you seem to be earning revenue.  You write more articles. After a number (arbitrary) they 'promote' you to Staff Writer where you can edit and delete.

At this point you begin to really write.  You see your earnings mounting.  When you have a body of work, about 100 articles,  without warning they drop you to Writer.  You can not edit your work nor delete it.  If you complain, to who?  They do not respond to any message sent to them, but drop you to Member as 'punishment.' so you can not see how much revenue your work is gaining.

You can not see your articles, you must search for them, and you can only view them.  There are the articles you wrote, articles they have not paid you 1c for, but are using and earning from your work.

Factoidz make a practice of ripping off writers. You can never contact Administration.  Factoidz is a total rip off.

The reason they seem to pay more than other sites is merely bait.  You think you are getting 6x more than at Triond, so you load your articles on Factoidz and they steal them. Do not write for Factoidz.

Secondly, they are a highly political group; they support Sara Palin for President, so already you know you are in serious trouble.  They tend to use serious academic pieces as camouflage so that the hapless writer joins and produces this kind of work to add to their appearance of being a serious and factual site.   They are not.

If you Google you will find dozens of people all over the world who have experienced the same thing.
