San Antonio is a vast city that is quite spread out. As such, there are various movie theaters to serve the many areas of the large metropolitan area. From the northside to the southtown, from the east to the west side, there are many different neighborhoods, communities, and movie theaters to serve the night life in each.
The Quarry is Alamo Heights/Olmos Park/Monte Vista's centrally located theater. This side of town is referred to as the North Central, and is full of much of San Antonio's "old money" and their kids.
The people who frequent this theater usually go to Alamo Heights I.S.D., Incarnate Word, St. Anthony, and less occasionally, San Antonio I.S.D. However, people from all over the city flock to this theater due to its central location in between all the sides of town.
Northwoods serves the Far North of San Antonio. It is located, like the Quarry, among many shopping centers, apartments, and restaurants. Areas around here include Stone Oak, Hill Country Village, and other nice "new money" apartment complexes.
The area is also frequented by many of the north side, especially those who smoke shisha due to its large amount of hookah cafes and bars.
AMC Huebner Oaks 24 is located on the Far Northwest side of town. It is surrounded by shopping areas, food establishments, and the grand Huebner Oaks shopping center. If you'd even like a nice drink there is the local favorite Flying Saucer Bar right around the corner as well.
Santikos Mayan Palace 14 is the Southwest side's local favorite. Friendly staff, but many complain about security. As compared with other theaters, car theft is more common. Food is also good!
The Palladium is located right next to AMC Huebner Oaks, on the Far Northwest side, but with the newest technologies, VIP seating, and beautiful surroundings. There is the famed Bass Pro Shop right next to it, which stocks up on plenty of outdoor supplies and seafood!
Santikos Rialto Cinema Bar and Grill serves the Northeast side of town. If you are looking for a theater to dine in, look no further. The food is great, from a personal review. Cowboys, a popular local night club, is also nearby.
The Alamo Draft House Cinema is the West side's drink, food, and movie watching place to be. It is really nice and the theater plays videos prior to the movie instead of advertisements! Some people have gotten their food rather late so make sure you order early! After all, they have a whole theater to serve.
Rivercenter 9/IMAX is centrally located in San Antonio's downtown. It is a noteworthy experience (due to its location among all the hustle and bustle of Rivercenter mall, local churches, the Alamodome, and Commerce street). Rivercenter 9 (and IMAX) is a very popular theater in San Antonio which isn't too bad of service either.
Regal Live Oak 18 is on the Far Northeast side of town. It is located quite a ways up I-35 from Rialto Cinema. Some say it is almost as pricey as Palladium, but lives up to its standards by treating you like royalty!
