Yesterday I read a review on Mr. And Mrs. Smith and it reminded me how much I loved that film. I watched it again and I found it a pretty exciting film again. If you belong to those few ones who haven’t seen the film yet, here you find one more review convincing you to watch it soon.
The film is an action film with very strong chemistry between the two leading actors. The film was released in 2005 and as I remember we could hardly buy tickets so many people wanted to see this film. Mr. and Mrs. Smith was directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Go, Fair Game). The screenplay was written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men, Jumper, Sherlock Holmes). The classification is 15 years and older. The running time is 115 minutes.
Main cast:
-
Angelina Jolie – Jane Smith
Vince Vaughn – Eddie (John’s friend)
Adam Brody – Benjamin Danz
Plot:
-
The film starts with a talk marriage counselling talk. Jane and John have been married for five or six years – both say different. They cannot even recall the date when they had sex the last time. It is obvious that they are not happy. Then we see them in action: they leave the beautiful house at the same time one goes to left the other to the right. In their “office” they are confident again. Both of them are assassins, but at different firms. After they have done their mission for the day they return home and behave just like normal people. As their marriage was built on lies and none of them wants to tell the truth, their life is dull.
When the firms realise that they are married to each other they get a mission to kill the other. Well, they do everything to kill each other. Who is better? Jane, who makes plans? Or John, who listens to his intuitions?
My opinion:
-
I really enjoyed this film. The story is exciting and full of twists and turns. It is quite difficult to find out exactly the end. I loved it because it was an engaging film with loads of action. I liked also the relationship of Jane and John. They were passionate and the chemistry really worked between them. The dance when they first met was really sexy. I really liked them when they had their dinner just before they started to chase each other. They were fantastic.
I think both of them were a perfect match for this film. They are excellent actors separately and the chemistry between them worked very well. They were good in action and in romantic scenes too. I really loved their performance. The screenplay was well written and the little competitions who goes out first by car, Jane as the perfect chef at home, the hidden arsenal, etc. all these were well planned and they worked and gave a little spice to the film.
I preferred Angelina Jolie’s performance to Brad Pitt in this film, but both were brilliant. I also liked Vince Vaughn as John’s friend. My favourite plot with him was when he tried to defend John against Jane. He was brilliant with that gun in his hand. He was funny.
The Smiths lived in such a well equipped house! Two assassins in a house: both hiding their arsenal…
Although I watched the film about 3 hours ago, I can’t recall its music. It obviously had soundtrack but it fitted the film so well that it was hardly noticeable. The soundtrack was released on CD. The film is available on DVD for 4.93 pounds and on blu-ray for 6.99 pounds from Amazon which is a bargain I think. I highly recommend this film if you like action.

This is the film that sparked off all those rumours about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, were they an item were they not.

Mr & Mrs Smith was fun to watch. And as much fun as it was, I observed a lesson to be learnt here on communication.
