The winter of 2007 has been one of the coldest winters I can remember.Scores of people have died all over this nation due to the bitter cold,power outages and the high cost of heating ones home.I was shocked to hear that our idiotic president George W. Bush is planning to slash home heating assistance to the elderly,the handicapped,the working poor and poor families with children.He rapes us of billions of dollars for an unneeded war,but doesn't have have a dime for Americas most needy.He cuts the taxes for the richest of us yet cuts the throats of those most in need of help.The cuts that this fool is requesting is from the current $1.7 billion to nifty $1.4 billion to the federal program that is a major safety net for the tens of thousands of poor Americans from coast to coast.The federal program he's slashing is LIHEAP.Bush,or as Molly Ivans would call him,"Shrub",sites the catch all"home land security"as his weak excuse.I suppose "home heating security" doesn't mean a thing to a fool born with a silver spoon up his..well you get my point.Statistics state that 30 percent of LIHEAP recipients are 60 or older;26 percent are disabled and 18 percent are of the working poor and unwanted class.Are these people so unimportant that we can put their lives on the line with a Bush federal budget cut at the same time as other federal safety nets are falling to the wayside?.For the most part the GOP is behind Bush.What a shock!.The democrats are once again in control and it is time to slap this so called president off of his high horse.The GOP tried to run Clinton out of the White house for having a cheap sexual encounter.Bush is destroying this great nation and they turn a blind eye.Perhaps this is why thinking Americans voted them out of power.We all need to stand up to George Bush and his plans to slash and burn home heating assistance to the poorest and weakest Americans.Bush claims to be a God loving Christian.Well.. what would Jesus do!?.SPEAK OUT!.
