Unfortunately like any fierce competition, the 2008 Presidential election left in its wake a vast number of sore losers and disenfranchised voters. With the same fervor that surrounded the campaign disappointed voters banded together in support of the claim that the newly chosen President Barack Obama did not meet the citizenship requirements to serve as president of the United States. Not only is this claim false, but the reasoning behind it is short-sighted, incomplete, and un-American.
Activist attorney Philip Berg filed a lawsuit in a U.S. District Court challenging Obama’s right to pursue the presidency on the grounds that he was born in Kenya and therefore not a native-born US citizen.
To make things clear Philip Berg has made his name known by filing ridiculous lawsuits, such as the one he filed in 2004 accusing President George W. Bush and 155 others of complicity in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Berg has also been successfully sued for malpractice and cited for a laundry list of other unethical behaviors such as “desire to harass and delay litigation.” Berg initially filed for the case to be heard in the Supreme Court and for an injunction to delay the election.
Both claims were dismissed because of the case’s frivolous nature and unreasonable accusations. After re-filing the case was accepted by a different Supreme Court justice only to have both the case and injunction be refused yet again.
While angry conservatives and conspiracy theorists foamed at the mouth at the court’s nonchalant dismissal of these allegations, the right decision was made. Apparently many American citizens feel they possess the knowledge, insight, and duty to determine whether or not Barack Obama is correctly qualified.
Despite what they believe, the United States Supreme court is a respected national institution that is prepared to pass judgment on just these kind of lawsuits. There is an astounding amount of evidence that proves Barack Obama was indeed born in Honolulu, Hawaii.
First of all Barack Obama served in the United States Senate for several years, which would have been impossible were he not a citizen. I find it hard to believe that the supposedly Kenyan-Born Obama dodged the bullet twice, and furthermore that the Democratic Party would produce and support a candidate that was illegal.
Do people really think that our system is that flawed? Are politicians that dumb? Is this a matter of a “crooked” system? No. After his election,
