Kitties are easy to please. I remember finding my morbidly obese tabby Orangy playing with my pretty undies. He'd have them on his head and he'd run all over the house knocking into everything in sight. So pleasing cats is really not difficult. Here is a list of kitty toys I've made in the past for my feline buddies that have been a success.
1) Ball and String- Make a ball out of anything and attach it to a string. It's super easy. The ball can be made from tin foil, an old sock, etc. get creative with it. The string can be made from sewing strings, yarn, to dental floss.....your cat really won't care. You can attach the string to a stable piece of furniture dangling so the cat can play or you can attach it to a stick so anyone who pleases can play with the cat.
2) Cat Nip Sack- Easy to make. It's so easy kids can make them as a little project. All that is needed is cat nip and cloth. Cat nip can either be bought at the store and it can be grown in the garden. The sewing can be done by hand. Be creative maybe attach ears to the bag and draw on a nose, eyes, and whiskers to make a fake mouse. Or if children are involved give them some markers and let them go nuts. This toy is fool proof, the cat will love it.
3) Balloon and Rice Ball- This requires some rice and 2 balloons. One balloon needs to be cut at the bottom of the neck. Fill the uncut balloon with rice to the top the bottom of the neck. Then take the cut balloon and cover the top of the other balloon.
4) Spring and Poof- Get an old spring and attach a poofy object at the end of it. The poofy object can be a bath poof, a sock, cotton balls, etc. Then attach the bottom of the spring to a board of wood. You can find these at most pet stores but they are just cheaper to make on your own.
5) Get The Cat Nip- Get a very small cardboard box, i mean teeny; or make one by cutting out cardboard pieces and duct taping them together....Then put a hole in one side of the box. Take the cat nip sack I said earlier and put it in the box. the cat will have a heck of a time getting that out.
These are just a few ideas. Get creative. Even attaching a plastic car or a child's hot wheeler to a string will keep a feline friend happy.
