Poetry: Happy endings

by Bonny Simon

Created on: May 26, 2010   Last Updated: August 27, 2010

Taking off the unhappy suit, cooling off that skin.

Looking in the mirror and wondering where I've been.

Twisting round to look and see, examining every bit,

Taking time to feel and breathe, time to think and sit.

Clear green eyes look back at me, no shadows right behind.

Defences strong and back in place, no holes to look and find.

Next I place a value on my self esteem and pride,

No cracks and crannies for doubt and misery to hide.

Wolves disguised as gentle souls won't catch me anymore,

No other person's discontent will drag me, make me sore.

Trust the trustworthy, love those who love you back.

Then your heart and head won't hit the wall with an almighty smack.

Above all else, love yourself and unto yourself be kind.

Leave the rubbish in your past very far behind.

Live like you have no choice but to be content,

Thank the universe for those who are heaven sent.
