What does the distant future hold? Will mankind stifle in his own filth, or will it reach out and touch the stars?
In my dreams, Man takes the stars in a serious of increasingly difficult, but increasingly more rewarding, steps. First, we step out of the cradle of the land and colonize Mother Ocean, learning how to deal with a difficult and deadly environment while still in the safety net of Earth. Second, we raise ourselves out of the playroom of Earth into our solar system: first into Earth orbit; then colonizing the Lunar craters; learning to terraform our little brother Mars; and then bringing life to the lifeless in the asteroid belt. Third, we take the lessons learned here under Father Sol and move out into the cosmos, bending one solar system after another to our needs.
Will we find new life and new civilizations when we boldly go out there? Will Heavenly Father step in and say, "You've gone far enough, children, now it's time for school." ? Or will we discover worlds teeming with potential but devoid of life? We'll never know until we try!
