America should not adopt Spanish as an official language, but should instead once and for all institute English as our official language. The fact is that America was started by Englishmen at Jamestown, made an independent nation at Philadelphia by Englishmen and subjects of the Crown. They were not Spaniards nor speakers of the Spanish tongue. As our nation was founded upon the English language, it only makes sense that our official language be just that - English. Not Spanish, nor any other language. Those who try to justify Spanish as a possible national language are short sighted. They live in the world of today, and see neither the world of yesterday nor the world of the future. Spanish is on the rise in America now. However, it wasn't always that way, and it certainly won't always be that way.
Simply because we are besieged by illegal immigrants and millions of Spanish speakers are pouring over our porous borders does not mean that we should fundamentally change our culture, which is undeniably dominated by the English language. That would be like Americans immigrating in droves to Mexico and trying to get their government to mandate that English is the official language of Mexico. That would be completely disrespectful of them and their culture. Likewise, it is disrespectful for people to come to this country and not only refuse to learn our language, which the laws of the land are written in, but they also demand that we proclaim their native tongue to be our official language. Can anyone else see the extreme arrogance and ungratefulness of these people, or is it just me?
We cannot compromise on this issue. For if we do, what comes next? Astute individuals know that such social tension is a tactic of Marxists, who seek to use divide and conquer strategies to slowly and carefully implement their agenda in this country. They start first with our shared language. We cannot let them steal our own language from us. America must accept English, not Spanish, as it's official language, and send a clear message - either come here legally and learn our language, or leave. If you don't leave on your own volition, we will remove you, and send you back to wherever you came here from, and you will pay for your plane ticket. America is a country started by Great Britain and one that shares it's language. Let's not change our cultural identity now.
