Best inexpensive gifts for newborns

by Jeni M

1) Socks... and if possible a pack of 3 different sizes!

2) Onesies... either newborn size or 6 months (depends on if the person has had other children and if they were small or big or if the woman's stomach is big or small)

3) Wipes... they will end up using a lot when the baby is first born

4) Diapers... Get a pack of size ones... you can't go wrong with those.. I only use Pampers Swaddlers on my child.. and they don't leak and are very absorbent

5) Pacifiers... a two pack is very cheap but since there are so many different kinds you could pick a few different types

6) Bottles... if the parents don't have a baby registry you might want to see with the mother about this

7) Nipples for the bottles... I didn't know this until I had a child but there are different flows to the nipple that is supposed to change as the child gets older... so you could get one of each of these flows

8) Hats... Newborn or stylish for the child as they get older

9) Lotion and Baby wash... sometimes there are bath sets that are cheap

10) Baby safe Q-tips

11) A humidifier for the Nursery... I had to go out and buy one because when a baby gets sick they don't sleep and the humidifier cleared her up so she was able to breath easier

12) Blankets

13) The Nano Bag... a sack for the car seat that is almost like a sleeping bag for cold winter days... it keeps the baby safe from the elements like wind, rain, and snow

14) A thermometer set... comes with rectal, ear, and sometimes pacifier thermometers

15) A grooming set... usually comes with brush, comb, nail clippers, and an aspirator

16) A medicine dispensing pacifier

17) Medicine set... comes with infant Tylenol, or infant Motrin, gas relief drops, teething medicine, maybe a thermometer and other first aid items

18) First aid kit (personalized if possible)

19) Saline nose drops for infants and an aspirator- life saver during cold and flu season

20) Bibs

21) Shoes in a few different sizes

22) If it's a baby girl... hair clips

23) An outfit... shirt or onesie, pants or skirt, and a sweater

24) Teether's or teething toys

25) Bath toys

25) Towels

26) Washcloths

27) Spoons and bowls

28) Pacifier catchers... hold on to the pacifier so it doesn't hit the ground or get lost when the baby drops it

29) Gift certificate to a place to get baby stuff or one for the parents like a restaurant, movie theater

or a thoughtful free gift

30) a certificate for one night of your babysitting services :-D my favorite one
