Deciding whether Bush should be impeached

by Jimmy Mcgregor

Created on: May 25, 2010

Should Bush be impeached?  This is a question that has plagued both Democrat and Republican since the day he took office.  A president can be impeached if they are convicted of treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

Bush is responsible for sending troops to Afghanistan and Iraq, which could be considered high crimes in some cases. If you agree that this act was a violation of the Constitution and that he should be impeached for this act then you will also agree that President Wilson should also be impeached?

In 1918 Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, sent over 5,000 U.S. troops into Russia to influence the revolution is an impeachable act.

Then there was Republican Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States, who in 1929 signed the Mexican Repatriation act which forced over 500,000 Mexicans across the border and back to Mexico.

What if a president bribed a country like England to sink the French fleet, like Roosevelt did before World War 2 or when he handed Stalin Eastern Europe toward the end of the war are these cases for impeachment?

What about Harry Truman, a Democrat authorized the only use of Nuclear Weapons in 1945, killing several hundred thousand civilians.

From George Washington authorized the assassination of Indian Scouts to our current President Obama trying to bribe Senator Specter’s opponent to drop out of the race—maybe they all should have been impeached?

When the United States invaded Iraq, it was under the premise that Iraq was a threat to the entire world.  The excuse for an invasion of Iraq was that they were a sponsor of terrorism and producing weapons of mass destruction.

After the invasion it was apparent the American people were not told the entire truth.  While it is believed that Iraq was seeking WMD’s they did not have one.  This should be where this story ends; however, there is more.  On July 5th 2008, 550 tons of Yellow Cake Uranium arrived at a Canadian port.

Where did 550 tons of Yellow Cake Uranium come from?  Iraq!  The conclusion is that Iraq had to be pursuing some type of nuclear weapon.  Most will dismiss this fact and go with their emotional choice, impeachment.

In 2009 we elected a new president under the flag of change.  Since that fateful January day, we have entered into a new era, or have we?  Over 30 czars who were not elected and answer directly to the president, were hired.
