You may have dry hair as a result of too much washing, blow drying, straightening, using hot rollers or poor quality color treatments. To restore your hair's health and lustre, try some home remedies. They are cheaper than what you buy in the store and may be right in your kitchen.
- Give your hair a weekly mask of olive oil. Simply pour a generous amount of olive oil in your hand, rub hands together and work the oil through your hair. Leave the oil in for at least half an hour, following by shampoo and conditioning.
- You can also use a small amount of olive oil on freshly washed hair before combing. It will make getting through long strands of hair much more easy.
- Olive oil can also be used on dry hair. A tiny amount will keep your hair soft and manageable and give it a natural healthy shine.
- You can also use mayonnaise to give your hair a mask. Mayonnaise is made up of oil and eggs, both excellent moisturizers. A good wash afterwards will be needed, followed by conditioning.
- A mask of eggs is another option. Beat one or two eggs until smooth, put the liquid on your hair and wrap a towel around your head. Be sure not to use hot water when washing your hair or you could end up with scrambled eggs on your head. Finish with a conditioner.
- As mixture of eggs, banana and avocado works well too, as does a mixture of eggs and coconut oil. Whatever you use, always let the remedy soak in for at least half an hour and then give a thorough wash.
- Instead of using commercial shampoos and conditioners, try organic products. They are packed with goodness and your hair will benefit from Mother Nature's ingredients.
- Give blow drying your hair a break and let your hair dry naturally. It goes without saying that flat irons and hot rollers are also to be avoided.
- Dry hair can also be treated by simply not washing it every day and letting freshly washed hair air dry. If you have to blow dry, use the a cool setting.
- Avoid hot curlers, hot irons and flat irons. The heat of them rubs your hair of its moisture.
- Visit a hair salon from time to time for a trim, or cut the tips of your hair yourself.
